Trauma-Informed Interior Design

Design that centers your healing.

If you feel heavy or stuck in your space, you don’t have to do this alone. Let's talk.

Our homes carry the imprint of what we’ve lived through.

Research tells us that our environments become “memory keepers”— the nervous system remembers where fear lived, where grief spilled over, and where we felt alone.

Sometimes the clutter isn’t laziness.
Sometimes the lack of art on the walls isn’t inability.
Sometimes the room you avoid isn’t resistance.
Sometimes the mess is just where the story got interrupted.

Your space is not the problem, it’s a witness to your survival. It can also be a canvas for your healing.

When we approach a room with gentleness and curiosity, we uncover what it’s been holding for us—grief, transition, overwhelm, or simply the parts of us that haven’t yet felt safe.

This is why trauma-informed design matters.
Your home affects your healing, your ease, and your ability to flourish.

The Listening House Method

A slow, sacred, trauma-informed approach to creating spaces that heal.

We begin with listening.

Every room has a story. Every story deserves a witness.

Trauma-informed design starts with presence, not products. I begin by listening—deeply and without judgment—to you and to your space.

We explore things like:

  • where you feel stuck or frozen

  • where you sense grief or overwhelm

  • where your body tenses or withdraws

  • and where a small spark of longing still lives

I bring a decade of experience walking with women through trauma, and I know how to hear the unsaid things—the places the story hides. Together we name what’s underneath the surface and gently reduce shame by understanding the WHY behind your space’s patterns.

This step alone often brings relief, clarity, and compassion.

We cultivate possibility.

Once we understand what is stuck, we imagine into what could open.

With tenderness and curiosity, we begin to wonder together:
What might this room want to become?
What small shifts might invite breath back into the space?
What colors, textures, or rhythms support your nervous system?

This is where design meets soul work. I help you:

  • see things you may have stopped noticing

  • reimagine flow, light, and placement

  • understand what helps your body feel grounded rather than overwhelmed

  • discern what belongs and what no longer supports your healing

This is not a fast or superficial process. It’s an honoring one. We create a design narrative that arises from your life, not from trends. Your space begins to feel less like a burden and more like a partner.

We create a space that supports you.

Not a space designed for you, but a space born from within you.

Once we uncover what the room needs and what you desire, we begin the gentle work of shaping it into a sanctuary that reflects your becoming.

Your final design is:

  • collected rather than staged

  • soulful rather than showy

  • honest rather than perfect

  • crafted to your needs and limitations, not someone else’s idea of “beautiful”

I guide you in sourcing, arranging, and tending the space—always at a pace that honors your season. Every choice matters, not for its aesthetic value alone but for its meaning, symbolism, and how it makes your whole self feel.

The finished room holds your brave story: what has been lost, what has survived, and what is gently emerging. It is a space that believes you. It welcomes you. It stays with you.

Work With Us

For the spaces that matter most to you, let’s create a space sensitive to your story and healing journey.

A friend once called me a “home therapist” — someone listening for more than design preferences or paint color selections, but for the story interwoven into the places we work and live. More than showcases, I’m interested in creating sacred spaces.

What makes my approach to design unique?

Interior design, I believe, is something that provokes more than preferences — it grabs our story, our trauma, our dreams, our hopes, and all the places we might be stuck. And I think it all belongs. It all deserves to be honored, noticed, and named. In fact, I think that’s really the only way we make a home.

For the last decade, I have explored the intersection of trauma recovery and interior design — how our story impacts our space, and how spaces can impact our healing. I’ve worked with 100+ women and designed 800+ rooms that honor the unique stories of healing I’ve heard. I even started a nonprofit that offered this care to under-resourced women. Healing spaces will forever be a deep passion of mine.
